Enterprise experience, at a scale that can move

Bantam Digital is Michael DeLucia. Twenty years of enterprise technology leadership, deliberately applied to businesses small enough to act on the answer.

The problems that consume a $50M business are the same ones that consume a $400B one. The difference is that the smaller company can actually fix them this quarter.

I spent two decades running global technology operations at a $400B AUM investment manager. The kind of environment where a bad architecture decision compounds across seven offices and several thousand people, and where the cost of getting it wrong is measured in years. That work taught a specific discipline: start from the business outcome, be ruthless about sequencing, and treat any technology decision you cannot explain to a CFO as one you have not finished thinking about.

Bantam Digital exists because that discipline is worth more to a growing business than it is to a large one. At enterprise scale it is table stakes. At $10M to $100M, it is a genuine competitive advantage, and it is almost never in the building, because the businesses that need it most cannot yet justify a full-time CIO.

What the work actually looks like

Less advisory than most consulting, more strategic than most IT. A typical engagement moves between mapping how the business really runs, making architecture and vendor calls, and building the automation that closes the gap SaaS leaves behind. Recent work includes AWS migrations that cut cloud costs by 30%, a CRM implementation adopted across seven offices, and production AI automation for expense classification, member engagement, and analytics.

The measure of a good engagement is that it can end. If a client cannot operate without me, I have built dependency rather than capability, which is a comfortable business model and a bad outcome.

From people who ran technology alongside me

Not clients. Colleagues at Western Asset Management, which is a harder test: they watched the work up close and had nothing to sell.

Mike was up for every challenge and has continued to be a true partner. His team was the most collaborative, and we managed to get a great deal of high-quality work done with limited resources. If I were looking for someone to run technology or large global projects, I would not hesitate to hire Mike.

Where this works, and where it does not

Being direct about this saves everyone a discovery call.

A good fit

  • $10M–$100M in revenue, with a leadership team that makes decisions rather than defers them
  • Financial services, professional services, member organizations, design and creative firms, industrial and manufacturing
  • SaaS tools in place that are not delivering their full value
  • Manual processes consuming people you pay a lot for
  • An AI opportunity that is real but has no roadmap attached
  • Willingness to change a process, not just buy a tool

Not a fit

  • You need a help desk, device management, or 24/7 infrastructure support
  • You want a body to fill a seat rather than a decision to be made
  • The technology is fine and the actual problem is organizational
  • You are looking for the cheapest hourly rate
  • The goal is a report for the board rather than a change in operations

Let’s find out if this fits

Thirty minutes. If it is not a fit, you will hear that on the call rather than in a proposal three weeks later.
